Cookies Policy

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in the same way. They let a site remember your preferences and understand how it is being used. This page explains which cookies and storage HEIC Toolkit relies on and how you can control them.
Your files are never involved
Before anything else: cookies on this site have nothing to do with the files you convert. All conversion happens locally in your browser, and your images are never uploaded or stored in a cookie. Learn more on our Security page.
The cookies we use
We keep this list short. We use strictly necessary storage to remember your theme, and privacy-respecting analytics to measure anonymous, aggregate usage. We do not use any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| theme | Strictly necessary | Remembers your light / dark mode preference so the site loads in the right theme. Set by HEIC Toolkit | Persistent (local storage) |
| _ga | Analytics | Distinguishes anonymous visitors to measure aggregate site usage. Set by Google Analytics | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Analytics | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 measurement. Set by Google Analytics | 2 years |
Strictly necessary storage
The theme value is
kept in your browser’s local storage so the site can render in your chosen light or
dark mode without a flash on the next visit. It contains no personal information and is
never sent to a server.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people use the site and which tools are most useful, so we can improve them. These cookies collect anonymised, aggregate information such as page views and approximate region. They never capture the contents of your files. You can read Google’s practices in the Google Privacy Policy.
How to manage or disable cookies
You are always in control. Every major browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies
and clear local storage from its settings — usually under “Privacy” or “Site data.” You
can also install browser extensions to block analytics. Disabling the strictly
necessary theme storage
will not break conversion; the site will simply fall back to your system’s default
theme on each visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookies Policy as the site evolves. When we do, the “Last updated” date above will change. If we ever introduce a new category of cookie, we will update this page before it goes live.
